What is the purpose of Autism diagnostic assessment?

  • The goal is to learn more about your personal profile, and give suggestions to improve your abilities
  • It may result in you receiving a formal diagnosis
  • The diagnostic assessment process will help to determine if you would benefit from therapies to help develop your skills
  • Learn more about your strengths and needs
  • Learn if you could benefit from specialised supports/therapy

We recognise the individuality of every person with autism and  we are dedicated to providing the resources and support needed to help navigate both their strengths and challenges, fostering personal growth, professional development, and community integration.

How is Autism Diagnosed?

Diagnosis is based on a pattern of behaviors which are described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). Diagnosis of an ASD requires a comprehensive evaluation using specialised assessment tools and completed by a professional with extensive knowledge and training related to autism. Appropriate evaluations provide assessment across a range of areas (e.g., motor functioning, communication, socialization, play, thinking skills, coping skills).

A referral from a professional is needed. Our autism diagnosis and assessment services include:

  • psychological assessment and diagnosis of adult ASD
  • related services including screening, treatment plans, and consultation
